Aston International have become the latest sponsor of the Isle of Man Sport Aid programme, which encourages sporting excellence on the Island. Aston International is providing a Scholarship to up and coming rugby player, James Maddrell.
James has attended Kirkham Grammar School on a scholarship supported by the Gubay Fund for Sporting Excellence since 2014. Playing on the wing, he had a key role in the team’s two-year unbeaten run, which saw them ranked as the second best schools team in England.
James commences his studies at Cardiff Metropolitan University this month and holds ambitions to compete in the Welsh Championship and the University Premier League during his time there. He has made a name for himself as a Rugby Sevens player, as well, and will be looking for more opportunities to develop his skills while in Cardiff.
The Aston International Scholarship was presented by Managing Director, David Griffin who said “We at Aston International have a long history of supporting local causes and, in particular, local sporting activities, so we are extremely proud to have extended that by becoming a sponsor of the Sport Aid programme. James is a fantastic athlete with the drive and determination to make it to the top in Rugby and we are delighted to be backing him this year!”
Sarah Corlett, Chairman of IOM Sport Aid commented “On behalf of the Sport Aid Committee, I’d like to thank Aston International for their sponsorship and support; sport is a major part of life on the Isle of Man and it’s the partnerships we hold with local companies and other sponsors which allow our charity to assist the athletes to be the best that they can be.”
